Open-world action RPG Honor of Kings: World announced
Publisher Tencent Games and developer TiMi Studio Group have announced the development of Honor of Kings: World. It is an open-world action RPG based on the popular MOBA mobile game Honor of Kings and is planned for release on multiple platforms worldwide with a release date to be determined.
The game will take place in a vast land outside of King's Canyon. Players will play the role of a hero for Honor of Kings, to meet more partners in those vast lands outside of King's Canyon, in the continent full of fantasy creatures and legendary customs to experience and adventure.
Officials also announced a collaboration with science fiction author Cixin Liu（刘慈欣）, who has won the Chinese Galaxy Award nine times and received the 2015 Hugo Award for his novel "The Three-Body Problem" and the 2017 Locus Award for his work "Death's End". Cixin Liu will bring his novel "Poetry Cloud" and Honor of Kings：World for inspiration co-creation, so as to introduce more culture and imagination belonging to the East to the world and deliver his unique perception of Chinese culture and aesthetics to numerous players.
Officials said that in the future, Cixin's "Poetic Cloud" will also cooperate with more games of the Honor of Kings series to explore new possibilities brought by the intersection of science fiction literature and games, and jointly create a digital cultural IP of the Oriental.
Honor of Kings, a competitive 5v5 MOBA game, was released in China in November 2015 for iOS and Android platforms. According to TiMi Studios, it was the first game to reach 100 million daily active users worldwide and is one of the highest-grossing games of all time worldwide.
